Many years ago, when hobby computing first started to become a thing, and computers became small enough to fit in your home rather than require an office, many of us learned to program. And for most languages, the first action you asked a computer to do was print something on the screen, typically Hello World. It got far more complex after that, really quickly, and the original internet was a result of those people. I can’t say much about the current state of the internet, as anything after 2008 is pretty broken, as far as I’m concerned.
Why open with computing? Because the brain can be thought to run on a multitude of small programs to carry us through life without excessive effort. Make a cup of coffee? Load an the routine that you’ve learned to do it. Drive a car? That also has a program, but one that takes longer to learn. We even have those programs for the daily interactions that carry us through the day.
But, these interactions can sometimes become corrupted, or are learned from a incorrect code base (I’m extending the metaphor a long way) which means although they worked in the initial environment, they don’t work when deployed into the global environment.
This of course leads to frustration, discomfort, poor communication and even failure.
However, these code blocks can be rewritten, often faster than you think, and with excellent positive results, leading to stronger relationships, improved finances and even better health.
