If you want to sell something, persuade people you know the secret.

Tell them that only your way will work, that you have the solution to their problems.

And for many of us, that problem is weight. We feel we are too heavy, some of us are, and we want to shed some weight. And behold the GLP-1 inhibitors, or weight loss jabs. Without getting into the medicine of it, these help you lose weight by persuading your body that you are already full and so you… eat less.

Yes, broadly (for there are some other clever metabolic hacks in there due to the fact that they were originally developed for the management of Type 2 Diabetes), they make you eat less. And thus you lose weight.

Why not save your pancreas and just… eat less anyway?

Because simple isn’t the same as easy and culturally, metabolically, we evolved to seek energy.

So. If you do want to lose weight the safe, slower, and long term healthier way, try the following simple framework.

  1. Have your first meal of the day a little later. People go on about intermittent fasting and the benefits it offers, whether 16/8, 12/12, 10/14 but in the end its simply about eating a little less, a little later.
  2. Avoid Alcohol, Baked Goods, Confectionary (the ABC). You might also include fried foods in there, but then the nuances can become challenging and too restrictive. And unless you are getting through several bacon sandwiches a day, living on a diet of fish and chips (in which case you know what to do) or consume a six pack of crisps, those are the majority of unnecessary calories. Drop them drop weight.
  3. Drink more water. Unless you’re on 3-5L a day, you can probably do with more water.
  4. Move more. You don’t need a gym membership, you don’t need the lastet leggings and trainers, you simply need to move more, and do some resistance exercise.

Thats it. If you are already doing all of that lot consistently and effectively, well done.
